Another busy month!
• Delivered more bags of soup ingredients to nursery schools and community groups aiming to encourage people to cook healthy food from scratch and to help with the cost of living crisis.

• Made a new ‘how to cook’ video for the latest soup recipe so people can follow along and make it easier for those not used to cooking from scratch

• Visited 5 nursery schools to help get their gardens ready for spring - delivering pots and compost and weeding beds - and to engage children in planting activities. The aim is to get the youngsters used to the idea that you can grow food, to talk about the benefits of fruits and vegetables. We hope some children will talk about it with their families and maybe get them involved with growing at home or joining a community garden.

• Took part in West College Scotland’s SVQ Allotment course at Parklea so we can learn more skills to pass on in community gardens and in the nursery schools. Great to see volunteers from some of our communtiy gardens taking part in the course!

• Recycled used pots at Parklea for community use and worked with volunteers to wash them - this saves them from going into landfill.

• Started sowing our first seeds for plants that will be distributed to nurseries and community groups with the help of volunteers.

• Collected excess food from Lidl for Belville Community Garden - stops the food from being wasted and thrown into landfill. See our Food Share page for details of picking up excess free food.

• Held our second Moveable Feast at Auchmountain Communtiy Centre which was a great success! We cook and provide a drop-in, free. 3 course meal to help with both the cost of living crisis and to ease social isolation. Thanks to all who came along! We were able to use up some excess supermarket food in the meal from Branchton Community Centre which was fantastic! Keep your ideas peeled on Facebook for Branchton’s page where they share daily updates of their free food. Our next community meal will be at Craigend Resource Centre on April 3rd 4-6pm.

• Had our monthly column in the Greenock Telegraph sharing recipes and growing tips!
