Kidron
We enjoyed 4 fabulous sessions with the Kidron Project staff & volunteers. The sessions included a general tidy of the raised beds, followed by planting an array of vegetable and herbs including potatoes, leeks, chives, lettuce, garlic and lemon balm.
Each week, we met at the Open Door Church (next door to Belville Community Garden office & indoor space), and enjoyed Kidron’s hospitality - sharing food and refreshments, opportunity to catch up and get to know each other, followed by an hour or so on the raised bed, in the garden. Parklea Branching Out provided some of the herbs and vegetables we planted and shared with others.
We had the pleasure of being joined by Rose Le, a health psychologist currently completing the final stage of training at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU).
We look forward to harvesting, cooking and sharing the food that we have grown with the broader community in a shared meal.
Rose has visited a range of growing spaces and community gardens across Inverclyde to conduct research and explore what encourages people to get involved and volunteer and what they get from the experience, feedback thus far has included a sense of connectedness and improving peoples sense of wellbeing.
