Souper end to 24!

We were busy getting out and about for the last few months of ‘24 with:
• Visits to 11 Inverclyde nursery schools to tidy gardens, talk about vegetables and herbs (with games!), make soup with the children and to give soup bag ingredients to take home for all the families (the children helped us put them together!). The children really loved peeling and chopping the vegetables, making and tasting the soup. Lots of happy faces! We also made beetroot brownies for children and staff to taste!
• Shopping for and making up soup bags and delivering to community centres, pantries, gardens and community groups.
• Making ‘how to make’ soup videos with the help of our Community Chefs, Angela and Taylor, which are linked via a QR code on the soup bag recipe leaflets.
• Alice has been keeping the Craigend gardening group going over the winter with arts and crafts along with her tasty homemade soup and cake.
• Supporting Parklea Branching Out with volunteers on Wednesday afternoons.
• Supporting Belville Community Garden with some allotment gardening (preparing beds for winter).
• Supporting Belville Communtiy Garden with zero waste food pick up from Lidl.
• Moving excess food from Branchton to Belville and Greenock Library fridge.
• Talking to people at Moving On about gardening and cooking opportunities.
• Initiated loal community garden pot recycling through Dobbies garden centre scheme.
• Making preserves and pickles using glut produce.
The year was finished off nicley with the Parklea Christmas fete, where we had a stall with our jams and chutneys, dried chillies, herbs, beetroot brownies and homemade soup. Thanks to all who supported us!
